Thy will be done...

Dubya’s is, we’re told over and over again, as though it’s something we should all give thanks for, America’s first-ever ‘faith-based’ administration in which the most powerful man in the world gets his policies directly from God. Because of this, we’re assured, he has ‘the trust of the American people’.

And Dubya’s not the only one getting hotline guidance from God as the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reported in August 3rd 2004.

When God sent her a load of text messages telling her to kill Alexandra Fossmo, Sara Svensson, a religious twenty-seven year old nanny from Uppsala, Sweden, did just that. She shot her through the head. Then God started texting her to do the same to a guy called Daniel Linde, but she failed to do God’s will and Daniel survived. Sara’s ‘God’ turned out to be the guy she was having an affair with - Alexandra’s husband and her very own employer - Pentecostal preacher Pastor Helge Fossmo, who was also having an affair with Mrs Linde. The Pastor’s now serving a life sentence for murder and Sara’s undergoing psychiatric treatment.

Peter Sutcliffe, the Yorkshire Ripper, it came out in his trial, used to get messages from God too. Nice to know Dubya’s not alone, isn’t it?
